Sanford “Sandy” Menashe is a long-time active member of the Portland Chapter in the Northwestern Region.  He is a CGFM and a CPA and member of the OSCPA and AICPA accounting organizations – in addition to his involvement with AGA.  He joined AGA in 1982 and quickly moved into a leadership role in the Portland chapter including serving as board President in 1992-93.  Leading up to the President position, he served on the symposium (all-day education event) committee as program chair and then as overall symposium chair the following year.  He also served as chapter Treasurer and on numerous committees.  The symposium events he was involved with were considered extremely successful in terms of number of attendees, revenue raised, and number of National AGA speakers represented at the event.  In 2005, Sandy agreed to accept the nomination for the Northwestern Regional Vice-President-elect designate position and currently serves as the current Regional Vice-President.

Sandy’s professional accounting federal career started in 1982 (the same year he joined AGA) with the Army Corps of Engineers in downtown Portland, Oregon.  The following year he moved across the Willamette River and began his longtime employment with the Bonneville Power Administration as an internal auditor.  He remained in the audit and compliance field until 1995 when he switched career paths and accepted a position in the specialized area of derivative accounting and transaction risk management.  Sandy works in Bonneville’s Accounting and Reporting organization and serves as the derivative accounting technical expert for Bonneville related to all SFAS 133, SFAS 149, and EITF accounting issues regarding derivative accounting.  In addition, he manages the external independent financial audit contract and other professional accounting and consulting contracts to ensure Bonneville meets its financial accounting and reporting objectives.

Sandy is married and has two teenage boys and enjoys spending time with family, volunteering coaching, playing tennis, traveling and watching movies.
