Rick started his career with the State Of Washington in June of 1975 with the Department of Labor and Industries.  He was promoted to Assistant Audit Manager in 1978.  He subsequently transferred to the State Auditor's Office (SAO) in April of 1979. The move to SAO was to gain work experience that qualified for the CPA license.  He liked it so much he stay 22½ years, before going to work for a local agency.  He has been working at Sound Transit, in various audit capacities, since October of 1998.

At the suggestion of one of his SAO managers, Rick joined AGA in 1979 and joined the Board in 1980.  He has served as Chapter President on three separate occasions, but has never been Secretary or Treasurer.

Rick graduated from California State University at Northridge in 1971 with a BS in Business Administration - Accounting.  He obtained his Masters from the University of Puget Sound in 1980.  He is also a CPA and a CFE.  His hobbies include watching his daughter play hockey, which now includes going to Minnesota to watch her college team.  He volunteers his time with various non-profit groups, including Kairos – a prison outreach ministry.  As part of his volunteering, he will frequently become Treasurer, as most are not enthused about this role.
